FIND YOUR SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR

Be opened and develop through intentional accompaniment that focuses on
Your relationship with the spiritual dimension of life.

Q: “What is Spiritual Direction?”

A: Spiritual Direction is a 1-on-1 relationship through which one person assists and encourages another in attending to the presence and call of God, Source, Allah, Tao, The Universe, Great Creator Spirit, or however you may reference the ground of all being. Spiritual Direction encourages the directee to enjoy a deeper, more expanded experience of their own lives.

On this page you’ll find a list of our spiritual directors and the tools and approaches they use in supporting your spiritual journey.

Tools and approaches like:

• Centering Prayer
• The Enneagram
• Interspirituality
• Christian mysticism

After 33 years of ministry and 28 years of ordained ministry in The Episcopal Church, Krista is now devoting her ministry to spiritual guidance and leading various workshops and retreats. In addition to her experience as a hospital chaplain and American Red Cross Spiritual Care Volunteer, Krista completed a Certificate in Spiritual Guidance at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation. She is also a member of Spiritual Directors International and is an Oblate with the sisters of the Transfiguration (American Anglican religious order). Krista lives with her two beloved animal companions, her cat Kiwi, and her dog Georgie-Girl. A lover of live music and dancing, Krista loves staying connected to nature through camping and daily hikes.

“I see spiritual companionship as an art. Instead of using the tools of analysis and goal setting used in therapeutic modalities, spiritual guidance uses the tools of presence, wonder, trust, questions, silence, and sacred story. This is to seek insights, not answers. These insights are then held both by you and me in prayer and reflection, as they reveal deeper wisdom about ourselves, our souls, and our experiences. While every session may be slightly different, I promise to offer a safe place for you to offer your story, experiences, and wonderings. Whatever direction the session goes, you can trust that I am listening deeply and will invite further conversation based on what I am hearing.”  – Krista

Jim is a retired minister who provides spiritual companionship that helps older adults reflect on the meaning of their life and how God is present or absent as they face the challenges of aging and end of life. Through deep listening and prayer we discern the invitations of Spirit for your journey through aging and end of life.

“I accompany people who are questioning and even reconstructing what they believe, people listening for the voice of Spirit drawing them deeper into God’s loving embrace, people wishing to explore what the lives and teachings of Christian mystics teach about God, people walking through “the valley of the shadow of death” themselves or with a loved one at end of life.” – Jim

Shawn T. Ellison, MA, RN

Shawn T. Ellison is a Christian Mystic, Registered Nurse, Certified Enneagram Practitioner, Integral Coach, and Carmelite Spiritual Director. He identifies with the Christian contemplative lineage of St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and Bernadette Roberts. Shawn is a Catholic convert from Protestantism, and an aspiring candidate to join the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCDS). He is also married to the love of his life, Carmelle, and is the doting father of their precious daughter, Genevieve. Shawn offers 1:1 spiritual direction, and Carmelite Contemplative Circles as a transforming structure for group spiritual direction.

“I deeply enjoy working with aspiring and experienced Christian contemplatives, who find difficulty navigating the mysterious dimension of contemplation — that “secret, peaceful and loving infusion from God” (St. John of the Cross). I specialize in helping spiritual seekers deepen the essential awareness of their Union with God by surrendering to the interior action of grace. Additionally, I have a passion supporting individuals through their holistic integration of the mystical dark night experience.” – Shawn

Rev. Marybeth Redmond

www.marybethredmond.com

Marybeth, a lifelong seeker, is an ordained interfaith/interspiritual minister. She is a certified spiritual director and a member of Spiritual Directors International. She has been a practitioner of Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina, yoga, and the Christian contemplative path for many years. Marybeth is also a longtime journalist who has used her communications skills in the nonprofit social justice arena to advocate for Vermont’s most vulnerable communities. Most recently, she served in the Vermont State Legislature as an elected representative and Assistant Majority Leader to the Speaker during the years of the pandemic.

“I became an interspiritual minister and director because I love supporting people in their unique evolving religious and spiritual journeys. If you are a person committed to growth, then you are questioning, exploring, and changing continuously. I honor and welcome that movement in a seeker! And I believe that all of us can come to know God or Love or the Divine through direct experience, not as a set of beliefs. So I am committed to companioning people of all religious backgrounds and spiritualities who are called to live  more mystical lives through their ordinary, daily moments.” – Marybeth

Logan Jones is a trained Spiritual Guide (RUAH School of Spiritual Guidance), certified Enneagram Practitioner (The Narrative Enneagram), and Personal Spiritual Life Coach. With emphasis on personal empowerment and transformational growth utilizing the Enneagram, he identifies his spiritual rootedness and lineage to have numerous roots. Having grown up in Salzburg, Austria, he is married to the love of his life, Silke, and together they live in Richmond, Virginia where they are the doting parents and housemates of their precious cat, Zoey. Logan offers 1:1 spiritual direction, spiritual companionship and personalized Enneagram coaching.

“I love working with new, newer and experienced contemplatives, who find it challenging to find meaning and identity in the traditional offerings of institutional religion and who are seriously embarking on the spiritual journey. I specialize in accompanying people as they awaken to what’s more essential and more authentically “true to the seed implanted in them at their making” (George Appleton). I especially enjoy working with people as they grow beyond their personality learning to live with more receptivity and less reactivity. It would be an honor to come alongside you in your journey towards wholeness.” – Logan
