A fundamental truth to contemplative spirituality is the recognition that God is the heart of reality.
That is to say that God is
the Source,
the substance,
and the center of all that is.
Including you and I!
Some have likened this centering as the impossibility of being separate from God. We are intimately connected and already one.
Mystics speak to seeing separation as trying to separate the song from the Singer, or the dance from the Dancer.
Impossible! These two dimensions of a single process.
And so it is with the Creator and creation.
We are already one with God, it’s just that we are moving too fast and “off-center” to see it.
Contemplative prayer and practice is all about opening to this Center within, recognizing God as the inner-most center of your own being.
I hope you find some time today to tend to this Center, trusting it will better ground you through the rest of your day.
